DanceWerk

DanceWerk is a web application designed specifically for dance occupations. There are a lot of networking apps out there for industries known for providing a great amount of income. What inspired me to create this app is to help those who are in the not so secure industries. I started with the arts and selected the category of dance. I was very enthusiastic about dance during my freshmen year, which became my drive for this project. I want to help those who are passionate about the arts not worry about finding work.

DanceWerk provides dance related news, dancer profiles and gigs. Information that the news section provides are workshops, performances, upcoming dancers, dance achievements and newly release videos of trending or famous choreographers. As for now, the news is generated by live users. The aim is to have dance companies get involved to produce consistent content. Next is the dancer profiles. Users of this application are open to non-dancers as well. As for dancers, their profile is their resume. There are apply buttons on each "gig", the user presses the button and the host of the gig receives that dancer's profile. The one-click apply function will be useful for dancers to find work with ease. To not overwhelm the host of the gig, applications will be filtered by keywords. If the submitted resume/profile does not have any keywords that match with the gig, then that resume will not reach the host. Other call-to-action buttons include a save function and a contact function. Users can save news, gigs and dancer profiles. Users may also contact the host to learn more about the gig, or they may contact dancers for any questions.

This app strives to give dancers a technological advantage in the workforce. A dancer's passion is not in a cubicle, but rather in a studio.
